Daniel leans against one of the coconut trees that surround the pool at the Now Sapphire Resort in Cancun, Mexico as I spend some time photographing him and his guys on the wedding day. It was warm, but the guys were dressed in lightweight suits and the ocean breeze really helped to cool things off nicely.

I had spent the day prior to their wedding just scouting the location and planning the best routes to do with both Daniel and his guys as well as Erica and her ladies in order to optimize the time I had available.

And here's another superstition for you as it seemed to work. If you're expecting rain on your wedding day, go stick a knife in the root of a tree and that appeases one of the Mayan gods. Daniel was told to do this by one of the staff at the resort and it worked like a charm as the previous two days were rainy. But who really cares, it's Cancun!
The Now Sapphire Resort in Cancun had some wonderfully beautiful landscaping with rooms spaced throughout the natural plantlife along the beach in Cancun, Mexico. I had Erica stop for a minute or two to photograph her amongst the Elephant Ear plants, or Colocasia, that filled the gaps in foliage throughout the resort.
John and Becca get a little time together in the spotlight as guests take in dinner at Shall We Dance ballroom. Guest were also able to take advantage of the wonderful weather and photo booth along the covered store front.
Becca's dress catches up with her eventually as she spins on the bridge crossing a creek near Shall We Dance, where the couple had their reception. The location made for wonderful pictures within a short walking distance. The couple had scheduled plenty of time for us to explore the grounds surrounding the reception location in Anchorage.

The future Mrs. Wilson knows which dress is hers and it made a nice touch in photographing an already stunning dress. Becca received the hanger as a gift at her shower.
The groom, John, and his rag-tag batch of groomsmen plank, hang and otherwise, cling in some way, shape of for to one of the playground structures outside of St. Margarett Mary Catholic Church just hours prior to the service. John and the guys really had a blast, but when it came time for business, they were ready, willing and able.
The Galt House has some really nice locations spread throughout both hotels downtown. Even on busy days, with the right timing, you can really focus on shared moments that are timeless.
Rachel and Zachary have a moment on one of the escalators at the Galt House as we ride up to the Belvedere level with the rest of the wedding party. Their reception was over early enough to allow us some daylight. I offer full day photojournalism and love it when the clients take me up on that!

One of the ring bearers lays a big smooch on the bride during our group photo session after the ceremony. You just never know what kids will do and they always keep me on my toes.
You just couldn't get the smile off Rachel's face while having the back oof her dress laced. As I explain to my brides, I'd like to be as involved with you getting into your dress as you feel comfortable having me in there with you. In my opinion, that's when it really gets real for the bride... The bride, on her wedding day, the day she's dreamed of since she was a child, getting into her perfect dress, surrounded by her friends and family and shortly to marry the man of her dreams... Those are the shots you can't recreate... You can't fake the tears of joy and the release of emotion... And that's the essence of photojournalism. I have multiple state and national awards for photojournalism and am looking forward to adding more.
We finished up the night at the Seelbach in downtown Louisville with a dance in the Rathskeller. The couple spent the night prior to leaving for their honeymoon the next day. I just love it when couples want to do extra stuff because it allows us the time to really get creative and for me to focus on the couple and location. I'm very efficient in my after reception sessions as I know it's been a long and busy day and the couple has other things on their minds...
Chad and Jessica had a New Orleans or Mardi Gras themed reception at Kye's II in Jeffersonville. The couple as well as the wedding party and immediate family entered adorned with masks, feathers and beads.
Jessica and Chad worked out some free time after the reception for us to tour the riverfront area on both sides of the river. Our first stop was the newly renovated Ashland Park in Jeffersonville, which, in my humble opinion, offers the best view of the Louisville skyline.
